Disco Identification

Hi,
I'm looking to do an engine swap on my 90 so I'm looking for a doner Disco 200tdi.

The problem is that I don't know much about the different models of Discovery. So what's the easy way to tell if I'm looking at a 200tdi or a 300tdi Disco (or any other model for that matter)parked up, besides actually looking at the engine?

the age of it and which side the air intake is on for a start

Go on...i dare ya to tell him which side the 2ootdi is.....

Oh alright i'll do it...200tdi its on the passenger side if its a RHD...

anyone gunner mention the difference between the belts an pulleys cus i int

Well its obvious, the belt holds your trousers up.

Thanks for that, it's the kind of daft thing you don't really think about until you're looking.

Oh, and yes I know about the actual engines - 200tdi has lots of little belts, 300tdi has one serpentine belt .

so if the belt holds your trousers up, what do you pulley?

When i'm in Wales, a wooly pulley....

From outside main 'obvious' difference is the headlights .. 200 has a black trim and smaller lights, 300's have headlights that are much larger and 'fill' the headlight space, grill's different too.

Although ... many 200 Disco owners also upgraded the grilles and lights so they look like 300's .. much like 300 owners sometimes upgrade lights and grille to look like TD5's or D2's.

If you can see in the windscreen the steering wheel, console and dashboard are all diffferent on standard Discos.
