disco gearbox into defender?

Hello, my 300tdi 130 defender gearbox is on its way out. i have the option to use an r380 out of a 300 disco. other than the transfer gearing being different and having to change the bell housing, will the box fit in my defender?

Please do a :search: - it has been covered many times - it will fit, if you dont mind sitting in the back to change gear.

Ok i have searched again but cant find whether a td5 r380 will fit in a 300tdi defender.
I bought my current gbox from ashcrofts 18 months ago and its naff. i dont want to spend that money again and have seen some nice low mileage td5 r380's on ebay.
Will it work?

gear levers will be further back and low / high ratio lever will be in front of main gear lever.

even the td5 ones are laid back are they? bugger. i will have to bite the bullit and order the right one.
