Disco failed MOT .. and I can hardly believe it!

Offside headlamp not working ... tw@tted it one and it came on, so bad connection or poor earth!
Nearside Front brake pipe excessively corroded, fair do's, on the to do list anyway!
Centre rear brake pipe excessively corroded, fair do's on the to do list anyway .. !
Service brake efficiency below requirements, again fair do's on the to do list, both pistons a tad corroded, though working and I've been meaning to replace them and/or calipers etc for a while, but no money to do it with!
Advisory on front prop and offside drag link and ball joint has slight pla .. again both (obviously with the prop) on the list to do.

.. and that's it ... De-cat exhaust, no centre box, de-egr'd, emmissions about half what they were last time tested with a cat, egr and centre silencer fitted!!

So easy fixes (I hope) which will be done by Saturday evening as all parts are on order as of 5 minutes ago!! Re-test booked for Weds next week.

LOL yeah ... way I see it is that (I know the garage anyway) if they can only pick these up (OK, brakes on back are iffy, but it _really_ doesn't feel like they are) then the rest of the thing is fine .. ;)

My diesel tank's always quarter full as well, never three-quarters empty, oh no!!

;)

Having had a look under the Disco I find that I agree with the MOT tester ... the brake pipes, both have a 1" patch of corrosion around a pipe clip!!! On the to do list for tomorrow now.

The rear brake calipers/pistons were a tad corroded and weren't operating smoothly, they are now thobut! Doesn't feel any different to when they weren't operating correctly thobut. I fear the recent beach driving and sea water may have not helped here ..

Headlight connector was absolutely filthy, sprayed with contact cleaner and brushed over then sprayed again and works a treat now.

Can't wait for Wednesday now ... ;)

Cheers, Heheheh Brian, yours for £5k ... but I wouldn't actually sell, even at that price .. ;)

I think the Pikeys round here don't touch it, even though they've taken much worse examples, 'cos it looks rough with scratches, a few dents and a small hole in the bodywork, and I always have it on ramps or axle stands .. ;)

However, underneath it's solid as a solid thing, engine is fantastic and quite powerful (for 300 Tdi values of powerful) and never really lets us down. This time is simply lack of maintenance on my part, all the jobs were earmarked for when I have time and money to do them!! The trip to Anglesey and back, loaded, towing a caravan was simply too much for a UJ that I already knew was bust and I was trying to 'get by' until payday, today!

;)

Well, got it in early for re-test and it's passed fine.

Ready for Green-Laning this weekend now!!

;)
