disco engine runs but will not pick up

Help wanted in Essex. My P reg Disco will start and run but it won't rev up.

I have fitted new lift pump and fuel filter.

Any suggestions?
 
Its Diesel. When you put your foot on the throttle it revs to about 2000 rpm then dies back to idle at 1000rpm.
 
Can you rev it by hand under the bonnet by pushing the throttle? Is it 300tdi? 200tdi? td5?

Did you purge the system after filter change?
 
I'm not stuck. I managed to get a tow home but still need some advice to sort the problem out.

I haven't checked the sedimenter, will do that tomorrow.

Yes I purged the system .

When she is running at tick over and you crack the injector pipes there is lots of pressure and diesel coming out of all them.

ok, just a long shot.
I believe there are 2 types of lift pump,
1 uses the thick gaskit, the other dont.

so, wondering if you put the non thick gaskit lift pump onto a thick gaskit ?

I got it ass about face the other year and fecked the pump in months....

anyone else got any thoughts on my "wondering"

Have you broken down whereby you are stuck on the roadside requiring immediate assistance or should this thread really be in the discovery forum instead?:confused:

I get the impression that it's the latter.:(
