Does anyone know if a TD5 back loading door will fit a 300TDi, or, does anyone know of an after market third brake light that fits tight to the glass like the TD5 one.

I'm going to black out the rear window and fit a grill for security and would like to sort out the brake light first.

I.ve been offered a complete TD5 door for £40.00 so cost is not the problem :)

Maybe the td5 glass will fit.

My guess is it'll be completely different, so maybe try to retrofit a td5 light to the 300 glass? OR ditch the high level lamp?

i think it will fit.. i havent tried it but i have been looking at the doors i have the 300 and td5 and they are so similar .the glass is the same apart from the light on the td5

Tried that route redhand, only got gofaster led types, although I have now found out the last of the disco 1 was fitted with the barke light so will check it out with Rover, or is it Ford , or maybe bmw, anyway will get one :)

Failing that will use the td5 glass amd light

It is somewhat criticised that the later D1s were left with the only indicators in the bumper, where they were liable to get broken.

Never really saw the point of having duplicate lights in the bumper tbh, was it a safety issue?

If so, why did the last ones only have one indicator, in the worst position?

was to do with the tail lights being obscured by the spare wheel when the back door was open

edit - or hazzard light on off side!

i believe they were done because if you were broken down at the side of the road with the rear door open the right hand light unit was blocked by the spare wheel

And that they routinely don't work due to water ingress into the bulb holder and cables:doh: ... Twice I've been pulled by plod because of it, they let me off when I show them the light working outside of the bumper:doh:
