Hi guys
New on here so excuse me if I am repeating any questions. I got my Disco 300tdi a few months ago and it has a weird miss fire but now has a water leak on the timing cover to block just under the stat housing. Hence I need to get the front cover off. I'll check the pump timing at the same time as I feel this might be my miss fire as it had a timming belt fitted about 6k miles ago.
Anyway my question.
Does anyone know the pitch circle or hole spacing of the front pulley as I've costed the tool and it's twice the price of the spares and I feel I can make one??
Would appreciate if anyone know so I can get this baby sweet once more as I now have a caravan that's in need of enjoying lol

Thanks in advance guys

Regards

Disco Dekka

the search box is your friend - there are CAD and pdf files on here detailing the tool - and even a recent thread discussing it ;)

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Try this from the Haynes manual.

11 to 14 explains how to remove the pulley with only need for socket & breaker bar.

I use the breaker bar and disconnect the stop solenoid and flick the key, ping and job done.

For the pump timing you don't need to remove the whole front cover, just the small circular plate on it and set the timing with a 9.5mm drill and set the crank with the fly wheel using 3/16ths twist drill bit through the bottom of the bell housing,

Set the crank, slack the vernier pulley and wriggle in the 9.5mm drill bit, tighten the vernier bolts and timing is set.
