Disco 4 Knob v Gearstick

Hi All,

I'm just toying with the idea of upgrading from a D3 to a D4 as the 3 has been an absolute beauty to own.

I can't work out why some autos have gearsticks and some knobs, is it just an age thing?

Does anyone know of a good article listing the variants and upgrades to look for or is there just a year that it all came good?

Hi

The gearstick is on 6 x speed models up to 2012

From 2012 onwards they changed to rotary and 8 x speed gearbox

Think it was around those dates they changed

Believe many go for the 8 x speed

Thanks Stuart, so the 8 speed will have better efficiency and a smooter box then.

Ur welcome , that’s what ive read ref the 8 x speed

But of course we don’t buy the D4s for fuel efficiency , seeing they have the aerodynamics of a house brick , lol

With my D3 I get around 22 town and 31 mpg motorway which I’m very happy with
