hello is it possible to fit a 300tdi and 5 speed box into a series 3 i presume mounts will need to be moved and maybe props altered but is it a mahoosive job ie best done with the body off also is the wiring going to be a problem ???? also would i need to have the cat and all on the exhaust cos i thought of doing a custom one with a stack up behind the truckcab cheers for any help

I planted a 300tdi and LT77 box into my S2 88" back in 1992. Probably one of the very first S2s with a 300Tdi transplant. I took the body off, made the job easier. Had to move engine mounts, gearbox mount, battery, radiator and find room for the intercooler, move the front grill forwards, alter the angle of the rear axle using steel welded wedges, shorten the rear prop shaft, took all of the wiring off the Tdi, never seemed to alter the drive or power. Took an open exhaust stack up the rear of the cab, passed the MOT like that for many years. You gotta want to do it real bad. Good luck.

I put 300tdi mated to lt77 5 speed into my 88" hybrid. The R380 was too long and rear prop would've been too short and prop angles too acute. Lt77 was from 200tdi 90 which has shorter bell housing than disco. I altered engine and gearbox mounts to suit and gearstick is in usual/normal position.
