Nice intro

Pleased to meet you too :p

Just outta curiosity how do you know diff lock hasn't engaged?

Have you checked the bulb in the dash?

And which front shaft has a little play in it? Do you mean the front prop shaft?
If you do then you'll find the back shaft will be solid especially if the handbrake is on ;)

Yer clunk from first to reverse could just be worn selector or depending where n what is clunking it could be that your clutch is not disengaging properly. Cant remember if it's the same as a Defender but may be low clutch fluid, knackered slave/ master cylinder, etc

:welcome:

As BD said .. ;)

Where, roughly, are you?

Is the difflock lever properly free, can it move up, down and left, right fully and easily?
