Evening all!

My heater has always worked pretty well... occasionally it would turn off for a second then turn on again, but pretty well nonetheless.

Surprise, surprise... when the temp dropped to -3 last night the fan stopped working altogether.

Any thoughts? All help appreciated as extremities are turning blue and might drop off...

Check the fuse first, then if that's ok, remove the heater blower and check that.

to get to it, lower the cardboard "kick panel" that's under the glove-box on the passenger side, then by looking upwards towards the centre of the of the windscreen, you'll see the heater there, more importantly you can see the heater blower. It's held in with 3 *PK* screws, remove those and unclip the wires and it's out, easy!
you can then test it to see if it spins by putting 12v feed and return to the pins.
One of the biggest problems is that the bits of foam that are intertwined in the louvers at the scuttle, get themselves into the heater jamming up the blower.

Many thanks for this... I'll give it a go!

Mind you, I have a suspicion that its at the slider-switch end that the problem lies... do you have any idea how I could sort it if it turns out to be the control?

No, I've not tackled the slider switch, mind you, I thought that was the problem with mine but it turned out to be lumps of foam jamming the heater motor.
