Hi tractorboy, if I were you I would focus all my efforts initially on the starting problem.

With Tdi 300's, bad starting can be caused by:
1. A soft battery
2. Poor earths on either the battery end or the starter motor end;
3. Worn components in the starter - brushes for example;
4. Glowplugs not working properly;
5. When starting from cold, you should never touch the acclerator pedal. If you do, this affects the ECU settings for cold starts !!!!

There's a few things to considor

Cheers and good luck

Dave

hi thanks for the replies, have found that the glow plugs take longer than 11 seconds to get hot and do not glow red, which sheds some light on the starting problem, how ever the cruise control i have trimmed back every pipe as they were all perished at the ends, but still the cruise control does no work any ideas?
