hi all my first problem thread regarding my 300 tdi.

as i was driving along yesterday with window down i heard a metalic sound coming from the front os wheel but though nothing of it as it was caked in mud, anyway later on that day it felt as though car was pulling to right and the brake was binding.

carried on my way and went for the brakes to find pedal hit the floor asif a bleed nipple was lose,so takes a couple of pumps to harden up the pedal.

i checked the fluid and its grey and watery so il change that also all discs and pads are very good not old at all,

any common faults i should check for

I would strip that side down and have a look
take the pads out make sure the pistons are free etc
If any marks on you new disc you may have a small stone stuck a pad

completely flush your system out, then make sure you can hold a hard peddle,
the crappy fluid may have knackard your seals in you master

If it's full of mud, and you're likely to fill it again, I'd suggest removing the mudguards (rear brake plates, whatever they're called). They're a magnet for twigs, pebbles, wire etc ...

Also check the wheel bearings, especially the inners. If they've dried out they can make the brakes go funny ..

yeah i think whilst iv got wheels off ill grease up the bearings, also if i pump the pedal twic eit goes to normal so cant be any leakes as it wouldnt hold a hard pedal so i think looking at the colour a good clean and fluid flush should work.
