I have added cruise control and radio steering wheel switches to my base model 2006 commerical discovery 3 .
The radio and CD switches work as I had hoped but the cruise control switch doesn't as I had expected. I was not surprised that it needed to be enabled or recognised by the ECU.
I brought the car to a landrover specialist today to make it work but he failed to do so.
He has established that the switch, loom and brake switch are ok and the ECU recognise the new system but for some reason the cruise control is not enabled, the cruise control light on the dash won't turn on either.
Any advice welcome thanks ,Jimmy

To retrofit CC to the D3, the vehicle needs it's Car Configuration Files (CCF) changed to allow CC to function. CC needs to be activated in several different modules, which from memory are the BCM, Ipack and I think the ECM too. Unless all these modules are programmed to allow CC to function, then it won't.

Thank you for the reply, I'm not sure exactly what he did. I know he did ring someone for help when his first attempt failed but no luck then either. We disconnected the battery for half an hour and then switched the ignition on for two minutes in the hope it would then be enabled but obviously that made no difference.
Is there a guide on line or anywhere that shows a step by step guide of how to make it function?

I've done it with an IID BT, but it was 7 or 8 years ago now, and I can't remember what I did.
It definitely takes a tool like an IID or possibly SDD, as it needs proper configuration for it to work.

He had a pro tool , I asked him what it cost, 5 grand or more ?
18000 he said and it only works on cars up to 2015.
So I don't think the tools were the issue, he said had done a few before and automatics were easier,
The problem is either my disco or he needs a refresher course.

I don't know what £18k tool he had, but it clearly isn't capable of activating CC, or he's unable to use it.
I did it with my £500 IID on a D3 manual in about 10 minutes, it wasn't difficult or complicated, it's simply a case of updating the firmware, and changing a couple of settings in the CCFs, job done. Doing it on an auto would be no different, as the same files need updating for CC to work.
Sounds like you need to find someone with the suitable programming tool, and the ability to use it.
