Hi All hope you can help! I have just replaced the rear pads in my disco 3 and the sensor is there anyway to now reset the warning light? Or is this a job for someone wuth a reset tool? Many thanks.

You need to replace the brake wear indicator wire when you replace the pads then the warning light will go out. You do not need to use IDS sofware for this.

I have had exactly the same issue. Could you expand slightly on what the brake wear indicator wire is? I want to be able to explain to my local mechanic who changed the pads
Many thanks

Hi im gonna change front and rear pads on my disco 3 is there any tricky bits to watch out for or is it fairly simple. If someone can tell me how to do it then thats even better thanks?

Hi

To reset the lamp you have to turn the ignition key to the ign setting and leave for a couple of seconds for it to carry out a diagnostic check.

There is a excellent guide on Discovery 3 Brakes, it is called "Bodsy's Brake Bible, I have included a link, however if it does not work, just do a search on Bodsy's brake bible and it you should find the PDF file.

Hello,

Well after the Disco 3 59 plate was in for its service they told me I need discs and pads for £400 obviously having two old disco 1's i decided to do it myself. Well replaced all easy and even replaced the sensor (didn't have to as it was had not yet cam into contact however broke it being heavy handed) Anyway started the car and now the warning light is on! From what Iv read replacing the sensor should clear this so am I missing something? Any help is great thanks

On my Jaguar S-type which uses a very similar EPB, whenever you've done any work on the brakes, or even just disconnected the battery, you need to re-calibrate the EPB.

Al that it required if for you to turn the key to PosII, press firmly and hold on the footbrake then operate the EPB.

Try that, what have you got to lose?

Was it a genuine LR part or pattern,I've seen pattern wear sensors not work correctly.

Parts were Britpart. Iv got a couple of old disco 1 projects and always used britpart stuff and never had a problem but it so annoying to have the light on now.

Got the light to go! Turned out one of the pins on the connector was bent so not making the connection so all good. I had faith in Britpart they only make stuff for Landys so makes sense to do it right. Plus it was annoying me as there is nothing to the sensor just a circuit that when broken (worn away) the warning light comes on so cant see how after market and genuine would make much difference. Anyway hope it helps someone else.
