Disco 3, 2005 TD5, low fuel pressure

Doesn't really seem to make much difference how you drive it, slightly shorter distance if you boot it.

Hi, I've plugged her in, it showing code PO192 fuel rail pressure sensor low input , it also shows up PO405 & PO140A which are borh EGR sensors, A & C circuit low, however it looks like the EGRs are blanked off although still connected electrically! When it does drop into limp mode, if I turn the ignition off and straight back on it resets and off you go again, it certainly doesn`t seem to affect the performance.

First thing would be to ensure the fuel filter has been changed , fit a genuine one

Also fuel rail pressure sensors are known to give problems

It may at the end of the day be the fuel pump inside ur tank but always best to start with the simple things

Are u aware there is a fuel pressure test point at the back of the engine , is a shrieder valve

1) ensure ur battery is ok first
2) check fuel filter / replace
3) clean ur map sensor , is in the throttle body , don’t put anything down the hole , use some egr / map cleaner
4) ensure wires to fuel pressure sensor is ok
5) butterfly valve has been removed from throttle body

What reader are u using plse, can u the live data

Ref ur egrs , they could be faulty but as you’ve blanked them there’s normally no need to replace them , also check the butterfly valve has been removed from the throttle body

Did u use a genuine or OEM fuel filter please, only because I’ve heard some cheap fuel filters can cause issues

Also good you’ve already replaced the fuel-pressure regulator switch

Have u tested ur fuel pressure yet, as then ur know if ur filter is ok and providing the req pressure at the shrieder valve

If ur diagnostic reader can read live data ur easily be able to see what the fuel pump pressure is reading , what make is it plse

Plse let us know how U get on with the map sensor and butterfly valve , just to eliminate them

As a side note how long have u had ur D3 plse , thks

Thanks for all the info and photos, It broke down the other day on the autoroute, I did approx 230kms then it started playing up and just stopped, after about 25minutes it started again just in time to load it on the recovery truck, they took me to their workshops and connected their computer and we road tested it, the injector pressures were OK although fluctuating a little but the high pressure pump readings were up and down like a yo yo max pressure reached around 1680 but wasn't stable the guy seemed to know a fair bit bit about the TDV6, he reckons it's the pressure regulator on the pump ( VDO Seimens) that is causing the problem, if so can this be changed without taking the body off?

Plus do u know when ur rear belt was replaced , this can be replaced in skilled hands in under an hour with the body on
