hi having stripped my v8 down ,is there any little tricky things to watch out for on the rebuild besides the normal things.
bite confused over stretch bolts how to tighten them up.

many thanks

if it's the same engine as mine then reassembly is fairly easy. to torque the head make sure you know the order you are going to torque them in and do them up hand tight in that order.. then in the same order tighten to the first setting (20nm on mine) then progressively tighten them to the next setting.. on mine this is 1/2 turn so progressively in my case was 1/4 turn at a time - all of them in the correct order 1/4 turn then all again another 1/4 turn. Use a fine tipex pen to mark the bolts and head in the same place and then use that mark as a guide to how far you have turned them. 1/2 turn from 20nm is a lot more torque than you think it is so make sure your bar is long enough and your socket is a good fit - use a single hex socket for single hex bolts as a double hex socket will round the bolts before the torque is high enough.

hi thanks for the advice.
being abite stupid is a single hex the same as bolts.
by the way turned the engine with the heads off to check the barrels, on the crankbolt.
it felt quite stiff is this normal plenty of oil in the sump and turned over before the strip on the starter ok. or is it because its a big engine

may be its me being used to just 4 cylinder engines

many thanks.
