hello. I’ve seen a nice disco 2 body is clean, no rust, interior is clean, no ripped seats, all good.
It is a TD5 auto. The garage owner has removed the headlights as there was a robbery of them on the other disco. That disco is sold. But this one I’m quite interested on but since coming home I checked mot history, it has failed last year then passed but with lot advisories. Track rods ball, anti roll play. I can fix that. But have a look and see what you think

Only thing of real concern is the chassis rust.
Have you been under it and checked the rear chassis?
Think the rule is to check it and then re check it and just for good measure check the rear again

I did see that. Rear chassis seemed painted with waxoyl. I was thinking about that. Surface rust on axle rear.

The rust issues on the rear chassis has put me off upgrading to a Disco 2.

All (or most) Land Rovers look good on the outside, its usually the bits you can't see that require inspection.
Get yourself a set of overalls and get under it.
In case its not been mentioned before - check the rear chassis for rust issues :)

No it appears the earlier ones were a bit more sturdy than the later ones
Theres tons of info on here, some seem to replace the chassis others weld up whats there
but there are some horror stories so you need to do your homework
If you do buy it there are clamps you can buy to safeguard the headlights from theft

ah the older ones. I has disco 1 200tdi. It has sills and rear chassis something. I forgot. Replaced. Then two years later. I scrapped it. That engine was good. 275,000 still going. Now in defender to someone’s smiling face.

It is shame they don’t build a new galvanised chasssis for these discos

I did enquire about a chassis swap for a TD5 Disco but to have someone do it is usually north of 5k
and then you get the, be a shame not to replace .................. whilst the body is off
So for now I'll run my 300

I think a rechassis is worth while if the rest of the car is good.

Mine only has 110,000 miles on ot and runs well

Lovely trucks mate but like mentioned rust is an issue not just on the chassis but that’s the main weak area

Small tapping hammer for the chassis, if he wont let you tap it you know the answer!
