Hi, in my pursuit of the leak I have, I have noticed that I am getting drips from the top of the windscreen, inside the car

Can someone tell me why this is likely to be?

The person before me siliconed terribly on the outside of the screen, but would having a leak on the inside suggest I need to resilicone on the outside or inside?

Is there an actual seal i could buy instead if I just rip off the whole seal/silicone on the outside?

Thank you

Do you have a sunroof? D2’s have a known problem in that the drain tubes block up & cause the rain to leak about the headlining. The water then runs in all directions and eventually rots your floor. If you need to silicone your screen, forget all the cheap silicone. Dig it out, decrease the channel and but a continuous bead of Sikaflex 221. This is professional grade and will stick virtually anything to anything & remains totally flexible. It can also be over painted!

Thanks, is any windscreen seal on Ebay fine?

I know I will destroy the current one when I dig out all the silicone the last numpty applied!

There isn’t a seal as in rubber seal, the screen is bonded directly to the body using very specific sealant.
A mentioned sealant such as Silkaflex, there others like a Tiger Seal, just keep away from the bathroom type stuff.

I am sure I can see an actual external seal too though, will take a pic later!

You can prob see a trim that runs across the screen. That just sits in place and will like other disco’s just pull out, but pull it upwards away from the screen or it can split. Remember not to put too much sikaflex in the channel, otherwise you won’t get the trim back in.

You want the water ingress manual, google it and download. You basically have to peel back the top seal and apply sealant. I know Sikaflex is best but a quality outdoor silicone is a good alternative and removable. Sikaflex once on is on for life!
Rain gutters also always need attention.
