Recently bought a 2000 TD5 with 119k. Shortly after, it overheated - blown bleed hose.(bodged by previous owner) Garage discovered & replaced fuel pump which had failed at the same time. A week later it started losing power when towing - garage identified & freed sticking wastegate. A week after that it developed its current problem - starts, has bags of power, for 5 minutes or so, then loses power, revs drop to 7-800 & emits huge cloud of white smoke, which smells of diesel. It then sometimes emits occasional burst of black smoke while ticking over, if throttle is opened. On one test run it suddenly regained full power for a few minutes, then lost it again. Previous owner has removed EGR No sign of oil in water, or water on dipstick, or sludge under oil filler cap. Only error message on fault code reader is: Manifold pressure sensor logged
Steps taken:
1.Fitted new fuel & air filters & injector harness. .
2.Garage has replaced several sensors, (MAF etc) with used units - no improvement.
3. Had to top up coolant with say 1/2 litre after garage fitted new bleed hose, then again a couple of days ago.
4. Have added Steelseal to coolant yesterday; also turbocleaner to fuel (that may have caused the burst of black smoke seen shortly after, when opening throttle whilst engine in limp mode}
Advice please

If the fault code was on manifold pressure then the MAP sensor is the problem not the MAF
Thanks - I've cleaned the MAP sensor & deleted the old code. The car lost power approx 1 mile from startup; the MAP code did not re-appear. A picture of the smoke is attached, as seen in the rear-view mirror

Have replaced the cylinder head (Found cracks at each glowplug port). Engine starts & runs smoothly, plenty of power, then still loses it & emits cloud of light grey-white smoke after approx 1 mile. Ticks over, with greyer smoke, no power. If throttle opened may give small burst of black smoke. Switch off for 5 minutes or so, then restart & it runs normally for 2-3 minutes, then repeats power loss & cloud of light smoke. Fault code 3015 Hawkeye Low manifold pressure. Will check hoses, intercooler, turbo. Wastegate been checked . My L-R garage replaced the MAF MAP & Ambient Air pressure sensors with used units thought to be good. I'm wondering if an intermittent faulty signal from the MAP could be causing the ecu to revert to limp mode?
engine-trouble-code.com says P3015 code on vehicles with electronically controlled automatic transmissions, the 3-4 shift solenoid is responsible for actuating the hydraulic circuits to activate clutches or bands that change gears inside the automatic transmission.problem Does this apply to the TD5? If so would it cause this problem?

Any diesel smell on dipstick?

Sump level rising at all?

White/grey smoke that smells of diesel means diesel where it shouldn't be imo

Finally found problem today- partially collapsed turbo > intercooler s-shaped hose restricting airflow - car now running perfectly - so far!
