I'm looking at getting a disco 2 with a td5. I live down a very bumpy farm track that is like a Greenlane and normal cars aren't up to tackling the job but I need something comfortable for motorway journeys good for towing and with a little more luxury than a defender.

My budget will be £3000 tops.
So I'd like to hear from owners about common problems and how easy it was to fix. Whether the ACE system is worth having as well as rear air suspension. I'd also like to hear views on auto or manual im leaning more toward manual as I like to be that bit more involved. Is there a certain model age I should aim for, when problems from early cars had been sorted from the factory.

Unfortunately my knowledge ends after the 300tdi stopped being put in the discos.

One thing, if it has toys make sure they work.

Make sure no error lights and that on self test they work.

ACE is brilliant on twisty roads.

Air is good with different loads.

Auto is more relaxing, Manual more economical.

Earliest are 10P engines
Facelift can have factory fitted diff lock.
