Hi, Running Disco 2 on 235/85/16 tyres with steel bumper & winch fitted is a suspension lift absolutely necessary for green laning (not rock climbing or swimming deep water).?

....but you might want to trim the wheel arch liners to prevent fouling, as well as adjusting lock stops to avoid more grinding noises - it depends how poor the green lane conditions are. Your turning circle will suffer and your on road gearing will be negatively affected, but if that doesn’t bother you then you can survive without doing anything else. Ground clearance on taller tyres sacrifices wheel arch space/articulation - personally I used lower profile BFG AT’s with diff guards and a sump guard for the rare occasion I went laning in my D2, which meant my on road miles were fault free (relatively)

I run 245/75/16’s on mine and don’t feel the need for extra height. The option to lift the rear air suspension is something I’ve used a few times, may have got away without it but she does have a big bum! Other than the tyres and a snorkel I probably don’t need I’ve not done anything else other than replace the tired suspension with new standard height parts.
