I am trying to replace my auxiliary belt. I have bought a fan spanner, although just about sticks out above fan. Hit the spanner with a hammer and the pulley moves. I have looked at a couple of videos online and they show a simple hit and the fan comes off. Does anyone have a simple method? Do I need to buy the spanner set from paddocks? Thanks for any advice.

Put a combination spanner on one of the bolts holding the fan blades into the coupling to hold the fan. Careful not to strain them.

if it wont shock off with a hammer and spanner use a long flat headed drift to hit the center of each flat in turn it will then, you mayneed to do it a few times

Thanks for the replies. Due to the fan, I do not see how to access the bolts securing it. Can anyone point me in the direction of a picture that shows how the fan is fixed?

I did wonder that. However, I couldn't get a socket onto the tensioner in order to release and remove belt.

Why didn't I think of that....
I've shocked so many things off in the past. Will try again next week.
Quick question it does undo anti clockwise on a td5 ?

Thanks for all of the replies. I ended up buying two spanners, one for the 3 bolts and one for the fan. Did the job in 30 seconds.

Need help with the auxillary belt. Removed old belt. New belt has same number of grooves but is longer. The old belt was incredibly tight. Can I use the longer belt, which the tensioner would help to tighten.

I went to the local car parts. It is a Draco and is the same width. How would I know if it is the right one?

There are different lengths depending on whether you have ACE or / and AC fitted.

If you go to padddocks or others website yu should be able to check which one you need. Did the factors ask for any details?
Cheers

I did tell them it did not have ACE or AC. The old one was incredibly tight. I think I will put the old one back on and order from a local Landry parts centre. Don't want to take chance. Should they be really tight?
