Disco 2 - Is she dead....

So I've had my first Landrover, a Disco 2, for just over a year now and she's had her fair share of problems that have been a great learning experience for me.

Alas the latest problem could be one step to far - pulled over the other day because of a loud rattling noise when driving to see this on the rear suspension (see attachment)

does anyone have any thoughts.....

A local mechanic took a very brief glance and said scrap metal.....

I know its hard to tell form a picture but any help or suggestions appreciated.

look's like shocker mounting has broken away from it's fixing point, think your mechanic is right.

Bit of welding required there ...

I've seen far worse...

I'd be tempted to see about getting some fresh metal welded in there, but the danger is how far the tin worm has got - find that out during a repair then decide?

Thanks for your comments so far, Im going to get it up at the weekend and have a proper look at the extent of rot, it looks as though the car was used to tow a boat in and out of water in a previous life as the backend seems like a different car to the front.

The better half is seeing this as the perfect opportunity to get her 110....

Well... having a better half into Landys too is no bad thing at all!
