Hi All
Recently had a the front prop shaft fail whilst driving on the motorway, bit of a shock at that speed let me tell you!!
Anyway replaced the propshaft and sorted out some of the other damage but now have a noise at speed which is worrying. Its a dull vibration which kicks in at around 75mph and I am not sure if its paranoia but feel its related to the drive train somehow. The prop shaft failed at the transfer box end and so I wonder what damage it could have caused to the transfer box final drive bearing.
If anyone has any advice I would be grateful to hear from you.
Phil

There is a single ball bearing at each drive output shaft on the LT230, easy to change the back one as only the handbrake has to come off, but the front housing has the centre diff inside and linkages into the main box.

Your problem could be a bent output shaft, or a bent pinion on the front axle.

I'd pull the box out and have a good look at it.

Front diff, if suspected of damage is probably best swapped for a used one.

Shouldn't be a worry as it only starts at 75mph, which is over the speed limit
Hi Johnlad
The worry is that just because I only notice the resonance at 75 doesn't mean its not still a problem at lower speeds just that you can't hear it as much.

Update, turns out that the replacement propshaft was of a lesser standard than expected, cheap crap in other words. Fitted genuine and all's well
