Evening, the top and bottom ball joints that attach the stub axle on my front axle are quite worn. Parts look cheap enough but anyone any experience of changing them? Any special tools needed or just plenty of heat?
Cheers

Never done them myself, but I remember reading on here sometime back that you would need a 40 ton press or something like that to press the new ones in. You may have to read up a bit on it, but I believe its been discussed a couple of times here.
All the best.

There is a l/r special tool to remove these ball joints, but others have made their own, look on youtube for them, but you will need a lot of heat as well as they can become seized into their housings, good luck, you will need it.;)

Look out for yellow paint marks on the axle.

You are allowed three ball joint changes before the axle casing is scrap, as the interference fit is lost. Marking shows if they have been changed before, assuming it was done by a dealer and they marked them as per RAVE.

You could MIG weld them in as a last resort :)
