Hi guys,
I've only joined today, and am hoping someone out there can help!
Whilst my disco was off the road recently, due to cylinder head replacement, the alarm mysteriously went off in the middle of the night..seems for some reason, the battery went flat..since then, the cruise control or the horns haven't worked.
I stripped the steering wheel rotary control off,and checked continuity on all wires..all ok.(I did this because it seemed a coincidence that two items on the steering wheel weren't working).
I've checked the horn fuse in engine bay box, that's ok..will check horn relay in same box next..
Any suggestions on that and also cruise control?
Fuse for C.C. ok,didn't know if it is controlled by another fuse,or if any relays are involved?
I've been told that it works directly with ecu,and no vac pipes are involved...could I have left something off when rebuilding the head?
Sorry for such a detailed post, but it's driving to distraction!!
Thanks,
Jellycream

Do a google search for Rave CD. You will find a link to download the factory Disco 2 manual. Then look in that under electrical and it will describe each circuit how it is wired the fuses and relays involved etc.

From that you can then check the relevant fuses, relays etc.

Good luck. The manual is excellent.:welcome2:

Hi again,guys,

Thanks to you who sent messages to me for the problem with cruise control and horns...fixed!!
Seems that the fuse to the horns had not actually blown, but "ruptured",so once changed,my horns worked....strange thing is,so did my cruise control.
Maybe there's a part of the C.C. system that's protected by the same fuse as the horn..anyone heard of this before?
Relieved it's sorted,anyway.
Thanks again.

Hi all,

this is exactly my problem now, I have checked rave and can't see any apparent connection between horn and cruise, but something strange has happened. I found the horn fuse under the bonnet blown and neither horn seems to work (12v applied directly). I am ordering new horns, but wondered if anyone else has come across this in the meantime. I haven't checked the relay output electrically but with the new fuse it clunks when the button is pressed. I have hopes that the new horns will miraculously restore the cruise, but it defies logic!

you are a star. same problem no cruise control. on reading your post I checked the horn . no horn . horn fuse popped . replaced the fuse . now all working . the rave manual does show there being two fuses for this . but I probably would not have found it without your help . many thanks
