as I am doing a lot of motorway miles to get to the lanes, thought cruise control would be a good addition

Cruise control is a brill addition. Bought my kit from fleabay for £100. Best £100 I have spent on Keith. The mechanic who services my car had it fitted in 30 mins. I noticed that driving at 63 mph was perfect on t'motorway. Buy one and enjoy!

Before you spend money on a kit, check if your d2 already has it fitted, you may only have to change one of the blank switches on the dash. looking from the driving position to the right of the rev counter and speedometer there are 4 switches it's the second one up from the bottom, if the wires are to this blank switch you have cruise fitted you then have to remove steering wheel and cut out a hole to fit the steering column switch, I used the plate from the radio switch, from the other side of the steering wheel as a template to fit this switch . I paid about £34 for the two switches. Take care as you have to remove the air bag.

Even if the wiring isn't there its in the ECU. More importantly it's the same on the Defender TD5, all you need is to connect a couple terminals with two switches and you can have cc on a td5 fender too
