I put a genuine LR one on my early Disco 2 - but I did have a facelift front bumper on already.

No a D1 bull bar won't fit on a D2 without serious modification. It Attaches onto the chassis differently IIRC as the Chassis's are different.

I tried putting a D1 bullbar onto my D2 a while back. The chassis rails are the same distance apart, that isn't the issue. The problem is that the D1 bumpers sit around 2-3 inches lower than D2 bumpers, so you'll need to fit some plates to adjust the height accordingly. Also, the length of the wing from the front to the wheel arch is longer on a D1 - I had to trim a couple of inches off the D1 bumper to match the D2 arches.

So its a pretty straightforward job, but you'll need to make some mounts to get the height correct. I used some 6mm plate, 2 plates over each chassis rail, then put some 4mm wall tubing between the plates to stop them from being distorted when the bolts are tightened up. In the end I chucked it all away as it still didn't look right to my eye - and I bought the facelift D2 bumper and bullbar instead.

Cool, will look into that. I saw a chap with an ARB bull bar he installed on this a few months ago but I've been told full wrap bars are illegal now????

Not sure about the legality but I think some insurance companies will refuse to cover you. The rest will just pull down your pants and spank you for extra money.

Hmm I know this is an old thread and all but the site seems to be having some problems making a new thread.
Me question is, I found these real nice looking bull bars whilst browsing, and have no idea if they will fit a facelift d2 2003. I have only ever seen them fitted to non facelift. Do those brackets go right up under the bumper onto the chassis or through the front of the bumper?
Would very much like em.
