disco 2 bonnet wont open also handbreak help

hi just wondering can anyone help me , took battery off as it needed charging left it offf for 2 days put it back on noticed handbreak was on and was solid would not go back down . it did in the end now its loose no tension and pops up a little bit and causes red handbreak light to come on at the same time i poped my bonnet up again and lever is just pulling the cable nothing happends is it easy to get the bonnet back open. any help on there two is much app thanks ,,george

does dash light flash when you move hand brake lever ?,if you have poor earths from attery to chassis and engine /transmission ,current can travel through hand brake etc melting plastic in cable sleeve ,or it might just need a new cable or adjusting where cable is held under the lever it be worthwhile checking and adjusting shoes first ,with the bonnet you will need to pull latch lever cable is attached to behind grille
