Hey all,
looks like its alarm week from the previous threads!!
Mines a 99 & I have issues this week.
The car was left last week undriven in a cold snap. Now when I try to unlock via key fob, I get approx a 1 in 25 success rate.Once unlocked I get approx a 1 in 10 success rate of trying to lock again.I have 2 keys & renewed batteries in both.
As its too cold to stand there pushing the fob 20 times, I use the key in the lock which obviously sets alarm off when I open the door. The immobiliser stays on until the alarm stops & then the engine will fire.As it has been driven little in nearly 2 weeks now, the starter takes an extra kick over to get the engine running-would this be due to the battery losing some power in the cold weather?
If so ,would a low battery affect the central locking/ alarm ie could that be my issue?
I have noticed with the key in the lock , if I turn & hold the key to the front of the car, I get a single beep after 5 seconds.Dont know why but it hasnt made the situation better or worse.I also notice that turning the key in the lock can make the indicators flash 3 times, indicating (!) that the turning of the key in the lock is setting the alarm. The LED on the dash also arms when doing this.Is it possible to disable the alarm from the key in the lock itself?
Since I have owned the beast I have also noticed the drivers side passenger door, the lock stays down even when unlocked, the door being still usable-could this be linked to my issues?
please assist many thanks
Foss

I understand it is possible to disable the alarm with the key using the correct sequence of left-right turns (coded for your car). If you're lucky the details will be entered in your handbook. If not, it's ask a dealer to find out for you.

One of my fobs has a similar problem to yours. I suspect the only answer is to get a new fob. Quite expensive and needs to be set up by a dealer.

Thanks for the info.
I entered my emergency access code using the key in th elock which worked & got car running.Went for a midnight trip round the local lanes last night & now all is back to normal-well for a few days anyway!
cheers

Almost a year to the day since I had this problem last!!
Ive decided this is not coincidence! Bit of wet weather & a drop in temperature & the Land Rovers are up to their old tricks again!!
I had to use my EAC twice today as the key fobs dont work & using the key in the door to unlock doesnt disable alarm or immobiliser.
My red alarm led on the dash is permanently on. If i turn the engine off & wait over 5 minutes, the immobiliser kicks in & wont go off again with the fob! So I have to EAC it again! I have noticed that the fob led flashes in sync with the dash led when the key is in the ignition & immobiliser enabled...this is a real confuser!
