Hi all, my disco suspension is playing up, (it has had new air springs on 6months ago) when you leave it, it drops down to its stops.
but if you leave it in 'extended height' it will stay up all night !
I am thinking it may be the height sensors ?

Any help would be greatly recived

Cheers

Richard

I had a leak on one of the air springs it took a few goes to find it as it depended on the location of the hole. If the spring overlapped itself the hole was sealed and even at full height the hole couldn't be found. It took a few goes of ride height adjustment and a bottle of soapy water sprayed on to locate the bubbles indicating the leak.

I guess what I am saying is that a leak may not be obvious. Bottle of soapy water that you can spray on them and be vigilant too.

Hope you find the problem.

Do an experiment and see what happens >>> after u leave the car(on normal height)hurry up and take out F11(30A) from engine bay fusebox(even better ask a friend to remove it before u open the door just cut the ignition first) ....and leave it so untill morning....if it'll not drop we are closer to the explanation. I mean this way u cut the feed from SLS and if it's a system error then it will not drop cos the ECU will not feed the exhaust valve ....cos on normal height, when the vehicle is stationary, a door is open and the ignition is off, the SLS system will allow the rear of the vehicle to lower to within 20 mm of the normal ride height as load is removed from the vehicle......it's possible that SLS gets stucked in this mode, (or the valve itself) and let it all the way down.

do that and tell me the outcome......if the back drops with the system disabled then the only explanation is a leak somewhere...though a leak usually doesnt seal itself on ORM......we'll see

Anyway the best thing is to scan the system first.

Update>> regardless of what's happening put back the fuse before u turn ignition on otherwise u'll get a fault code logged......if u have the car under survaillance u better take the neg battery lead off untill morning.

Take the lid of your compressor spray soapy water i think you will find there will be air leaking from the valves in th left hand corner of the tray and will seem the air is coming out of the electrics plug & not the air pipes were you would expect to see it. unfortunatly you have to replace the whole compressor hope this helps

 I ak u then m8: do u think the leaking valve is sealing itself when bags are extrainflated in ORM??? ...dont forget this aspect;)

i dont really no all i no is after 12 hrs parked up at normal height it went down if you parked yours up for 24 hrs it might do the same its travelling from extended height it finally fixed my leaks after changing air bags height control valves then finally the compressor the compressor was the route cause of the problem.
I hope you get it sorted soon good luck

I have now found a pin hole in the nearside 'spring' which only appeares when at normal height because of the 'overhang' !
I have put an old one back on for now, will try and get paddock to refund me !!

I am thinking of going to coils now.

Cheers for your advice

Richard

If the bags are only 6mths old then a warranty claim should be no issue, however Paddocks send the bag off for testing and until that is confirmed as faulty they wont refund, you have to buy another first.
