I've been offered a set of alloys from a 1991 Disco 1. Will they go on my '88 ex-mod 110? I saw another thread here that mentioned the drum brakes on the 110 would mean the alloys wouldn't fit... ?

They won't fit.

1. The earlier Disc/Drum vehicles have different hubs/drive members to the later Disc/Disc vehicles, which means that the wheels won't physically fit.

2. Even if you had a later Disc/Disc Defender - although Discovery Alloys would physically fit the hubs, they're not weight rated for a 110 and would be illegal to fit.

So without wishing to ask something that's been asked a billion times... what recommendations for new wheels that'll go straight on with no bother? I don't need anything too crazy - just something a bit better than the standard... and not too expensive...

Sorry for being a tool... what size are the current (standard) steels on my 110... i.e., would the tyres on them go on either of the first two you suggested?

I'm confused....

This thread http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f7/new-tyres-wheels-96001.html shows nice disco 1 alloys on a defender without any (mention of) offset issues.

Admittedly there is some question about the drum brakes on early 90s allowing fitment, but there is a 'c' reg currently on eBay showing that they will fit if you just remove the centre cap.....

Maybe the load rating isn't quite sufficient for a fully laden 110 but thats a bit vague really.....

NAS defenders came with them fitted too unless there was a very similar design made specifically for fully laden defenders?

EDIT: having read up a bit... here... I hear what your saying about offsets....
