Hello everyone,
I’ve been looking at getting a Disco for weekend trips to the desert, and the conventional take on forums/blogs is to buy a 2004 because it’s the newest and biggest motor and has the center diff lock etc etc. But literally everything I’ve read suggests the engine blocks put in the Disco 2 are universally fatally flawed, especially in the 03-04 trucks. Elliptical and misaligned cylinder bores, and other out of spec measurements from the factory causing head gasket failures every 30k miles, overheating non stop, slipping liners, throwing rods and so on. You don’t find the same horror stories associated with the D1.FetLife
Question is, do the D1 4.0 V8s have the same issues with overheating and slipped liners? Do they have any specific flaws like the D2 aside from the usual LR leaking and electrical problems? It seems the info is a bit thin on them compared to the D2, LR3, and shttps://downloader.vip/itunes/o on.
Thanks.
