Been thinking of moving on to a disco 2 from my disco 1 as I want something a little smoother and friendly on the road. But I've never had many problems with my disco 1 no matter how much I've thrashed her of road but all I seem to see is problems, problems, problems with the D2's.... Can anybody shed any light as to wether it's worth going for it, pros and cons etc.... Cheers.

You do get a more civilised beast. But they are more complicated and you correctly say that things can go wrong. My advice would be to go for a rear spring version with no ACE and no sunroofs. There's a lot of potential problems gone. The springs work nearly as well as the air, the roll bars the same and who needs a sunroof with climate control? As always, check the rear chassis of any potential buys.

Was goin to ask where the bad bits are on them, so it's rear chassis where the 2's rot then? No diff lock either, just traction control?!? But I've heard a diff lock leaver can be fitted as linkages are still there. Is that needed though??
