Disco 1 trans box in a Disco 2

Basically my td5 needs the transfer box overhauling and I have access to one from a disco 1 so I can keep on the road while I do the work. Does anyone know if they are the same. I've heard there is a sensor for the high low selector. How important is this.

Do u mean interlock? Sensor or the UK spec D1 T box doesn't have any sensors other than a bolt on speed transducer which the D2 doesn't. but the LT230 is the box used for both D1&2.

You can swop the front output housing between the 2 boxes so you can then keep the hi low switch, or I have a good D2 transfer box for sale if required
