BTW... as the SRS ECU is still on the vehicle once you see the SRS light triggered by an earth input on the new cluster i might be able to tell you how to wire it to the vehicle's SRS ECU as to see if there is really a problem if you want... provided the signal is compatible...if not you can connect it to that wire which already works for the ABS

Sounds like a good plan I was wondering if that would be possible. It may be sometime before I pick this up, as I get stuff delivered to relatives in UK from fleabay. Thank you that is most helpful
It might be better for you to explain in theory how to "wire to the vehicles SRS ECU. ,while its in your mind and I can get back to you when I get the instrument cluster?

Just to say I've not forgotten about this project. It becomes cheap tax (30 years old) next year so i will be picking up the theads soon. I did get another discovery 1 clock" (the one in this thread from ebay)but It doesn't work properly as the electrical wires connections have rusted through (you can see it in the pictures rust spots along the copper lines, and i did ask the seller but he said he hadn't noticed anything and it was fine , but its not , so Im going to have to get yet another and see what can be done. So I will be back if nothing else but to put up pictures of the completed project. Thanks again for your help.
I always get a laugh from people when i tell them that you have managed to instruct me how to wire in a disco 1 analogue clock into the disco 2 digital electrical system . When I turn the key all the warning lights come on and off again and check engine comes on and off , and i always marvel at how clever the ECU is to check the engine even when it is at the other side of the garage and not fitted into the chassis yet!!

I'm in Wexford Ireland, Its 30 years here and that disco will go from euro 1100 tax per year to euro 58 ! I have a 1971 series 3 as well which i use for landy stuff which is cheap tax . I am originally from UK and was present when Gordon Brown changed the goalposts on the vintage tax game from 25 to 40 years
