Hi all, new to this forum and loving it but now really need some help:(
I have a 98' 300Tdi Disco Auto thats broken down on the driveway and i'm struggling to figure out a fix.
Vehicle turns over but wont start and I've checked all the obvious stuff. Fuel is getting to the F.I.P but not out therefore I think its a fuel cut off solenoid issue but having looked, its fitted with a black plastic cap on the back of the pump with three wires going into it, which I think is DDS(?). I've put my fingers on the back of this cap and switched the ignition on but dont feel a tell-tale "clunk" of the solenoid energising. I've tried disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery to reset it (which didnt work) and the immobiliser light on the dash works as it should.

Anyway, my main question is.....can I remove this plastic cap (and how)? Can i do something with these three wires to bypass the DDS and send an ignition feed straight to the solenoid (and again, how)? And finally do I need to bypass the immobiliser system to do this (and if so, how?).

I'm fairly handy with the spanners, just never come across one of these before!

Thanks in advance for any help provided

I can't believe your asking for instructions on how to steal a discovery, On an public forum??

You may be a genuine landy owner with a real problem but you coulkd just as easily be a car thief wanting to steal someones motor. I'd call the AA out or an auto electrician, if I were you. There is a way to bypas the fuel solenoid and disable the immobiliser but it isn't a simple procedure and as said not for discussion on a public forum.

You might find it hard getting a straight answer to this as its like how do i nick a disco!
Good luck and search it has been covered in the past.

Lazydog, thank for your reply. Makes me a feel a bit less guilty for asking!
Just to confirm though, I'm not a car thief, just simply after some help!
Thanks anyway
