hello all,i will be replacing the heater core in my discovery1 soon and am wondering if anyone has discovered any short cuts to make the job easier.i believe that it had been leaking prior to my ownership and the PO had put stop leak in the cooling system and plugged the heater core.any help would be appreciated
thanks

the pics are of a 300Tdi

removed heater core yesterday.could not see where it was leaking.lubricated o rings with petroleum jelly, put the pipes on,placed in sink full of water and pressurized with about 30lbs of air and no leaks from core or o rings.??core was quite plugged so i blew air through both pipes to clear it.repressurized and still no leaks.i reinstalled heater matrix and now there is no coolant smell.go figure.

this disco use to have a v8 in it.maybe the head gaskets were going and po tried repair in a can.heater matrix plugged up and a tiny bit of coolant vapour was escaping past o rings?i bought it for $500,engine had no oil pressure. i srapped the v8 and converted it to a 300tdi.
thanks for the help

Could be that the 'O'-rings were a little dry and slightly shrunk, PJ will fatten them up a little ...
