had the lower go on my disco a year or so ago.
took the spare wheel off, got my angle grinder with thin body panel cutting disk, and slit all 3 parts of the hinge from the spare wheel side deep enough into the snapped pin,
was **** easy to knock `em out,
fitted new pin, welded back up the slit,
painted the hinge to match the landie,
and when dried I greased/oiled it up.
brillient job done with no spannering..
