Disc to hub bolts

for pre 300 tdi you need m10 spring washers to

Is that standard fitment on earlier axles? I did my front brakes on my 1990 90 a couple of years ago and took off the bolts but not spring washers, someone chucked them I guess. I do remember doing my copper slip locktite trick with them though.

A little copperslip at the top but not onto the threaded area to help the flanged bolt rotate on the disc and top stop if corroding, and the smallest drop of locktite, which has always worked but if spring washers ought to be there, then fit next time I shall.

Mind you, I am fitting a new axle soon which comes complete with brakes so with any luck they are put together properly anyway!

sounds ok, for some reason they stopped using spring washers when it came to 300tdi ,caliper bolts too

Would the bolts be common between back & front discs? (90 1985 Defender with 300tdi rear axle) and any advice in getting the disc to part with the hub?

i place disc on floor hold one edge up by holding the hub support edge of disc on the floor with your foot and whack raised part of disc with a large lump hammer , rotate 180 degrees and do the same ,repeat till disc comes off ,gloves help and never hit any part of hub
