I was having a bit of a worry about the amount of noise coming from my 200tdi. I went to check the oil (it needed a little topping up but was fine) and then remembered that the dipstick tube had been a bit loose last time I checked the oil. It seemed OK now, but the engine sounded loud and low on oil so I decided to buy a new dipstick tube.
When I came to fit the new dipstick, the old tube had dropped about 4 inches. With the new one fitted, the oil level was only just touching the end of the dipstick.
So close to running an oil-less engine.
