How different will an SD1 efi v8 be compared to the late disco 3.5 with hotwire?

I know one will be flapper and the other hotwire obviously but I will be binning the injection, I just want the mechanicals.

Primarily I want the 9.35:1 compression that the sd1 will offer with the later heads of the efi engine, did they change the efi heads between rover and Lr or between flapper and hotwire?

If only I could find a decent P76 motor in the uk lol

Ive asked the bloke to look by the dipstick to tell me the c/r.

I am guessing rover stamped it there too like LR did?

Fett I think I have a 9.35:1 sitting here behind my kitchen, Not sure what heads. It was rebuilt before I got it (as a good runner) I did hear it a week before the g box blew up and it was nice.

I was keeping it for my trialer incase my one is er naffed. Will find out in the next couple of weeks if its naffed or ok. I do have receipts of the rebuild from 2004 i think.

It owes me about £200 so I'll probably just keep it but if your desperate and it is what you want its maybe an option.

thanks gents, the current one isnt knackered thank goodness its very sweet and quiet. however it a suffix B with the 8.25:1 c/r and the older valve stem and head design. I would like to build an lpg motor with a bit more bhp. I was going to use 3.5 efi block and heads with p6 pistons and go 10.5:1 but if as and when I have to run it on petrol only being able to use optimax with octane booster will be a pain, so if I can go 9.5:1 ish and keep it all fairly standard with just a rebuild and maybe either 3.9 cam or a mild aftermarket cam if the cost isnt much more it will be a little more usable and still give a little more power or the same on gas.

I have to say the 2 door seems bloody fast as it is cmapered to the trooper though lol, its surprising what you get used to

worse rear crank oil seal made or rope that leaks and flat washer valve stem oil seals nothing good bar the compression I am afraid to say
