Really confused about my stub axels here, I want to replace the right hand on the front I have two different types on the same axle?

Basically the left hand side is different to the right?

I want to change the right hand stub with the spare right hand stub on my spare axle, but it's a different shape?

See pics

Thank you

On closer look the extra bit I got looks like the remainder of the bearing that worn away and collapsed?

Could this be?

when mine failed in exactly the same way i managed to put a slit through it with the grinder, not quite all the way and then chiseled of the old bearing inner, it doidnt leave a mark on the stub at all. but as you have a spare stub just whip it off and replace, job done.

I gotta nice spare one to go on, it wasn't until I started scratching around the edge of that old bearing I realised it probably was the bearing!

Sorry for the silly question I was a bit worried for a second! Didn't know if maybe it was a 200tdi stub or pervious owner had fitted something different!

Thanks again all really appreciate this advice and help!

really mate no need to apologise, we all had to start somewhere, if there is anything you dont want to ask publicly feel free to PM me as i reckon i have probably asked it myself at some point but in all honesty you will get a quicker answer posting and as said there are no silly questions, just answers we dont know yet.

Thanks for that discopol, most things get answered by doing a search but sometimes I can't find exactly what I'm looking for.

Had this landrover 6 months, before it the most technical thing I've done is a brake disc and pads change on a ford focus.

Since owning this landrover I've removed the engine, changed the clutch done a full service, replaced various bolt on bits, changed clutch master cylinder, now looking at wheel bearings, stub axle and brake replacement.

With help from landyzoners like you I've been able to do these with out too much hassle, even little things like the trick with getting that annoying pin back in the clutch pedal from the master cylinder. (Taping the pin to a length of wire)

I do try to return the favours and help people out on here too. :)
