Hi,
I've been investigating the differences between the different engines we discuss here and found this article on the TD5, high level but at least it's got the basics.

Land Rover Solutions - td5

I was wondering if anyone knew of similar write ups on the older / other & the new engines. It would make a good newbie resource.

If I missed it in my site search (& google) sorry!

Many thanks,

Well if you go through the workshop manual there's detail on how each widget works... too low level. On the other hand most of the stuff on Google is too high level.

I suppose I was after more material similar to the benefits blurb on that old South African website (the server that time forgot!) but it was just what I was after.

What did it say about the 2.5N/A, the 200tdi and what about the new Transit motor. Perhaps I should go buy a 'story of the Defender' book.

So far what I've gathered is 200tdi's easiest to work on, 300tdi great performers tougher than 200 but performs less well than TD5. TD5 custom built in that quaint unique Rover way before they ran out of cash.

It's much more interesting reading all the threads when you have a deeper understanding about the features, benefits and quirks of each engine and my TD5 90 is only my second Landy the last being a Series IIA (Shunt)
