as above realy, what are the differences between a 2.5d & 200tdi (Ninety / defender) timing cases?

I've had a search (here & google but drawn a blank:(

from what I can see, the Disco / RR 200tdi has an idler-pulley whereas the Ninety & Defender (low-mount ip) dont BUT are they interchangable?

I've an '86 Ninety thats going 200tdi but wondering about converting to the lower-mount injection-pump to keep it looking sorta Ninety-isho_O I know the Disco engine fits with the high-mount ip but why make life easy:D

I'm also looking at a 300tdi turbo & manifolding to save the bulkhead clearance issues so expecting to chop&weld a downpipe to miss the 200/Ninety engine mount:cool:

Thanks.

Rich.

I think some has already done this, possibly on the series 2 forum?
Maybe soemthing to do with bio fuel, really cannot remember!

Not sure what your asking but disco and defender blocks are the same so you can fit the timing case and cover off a defender 200 to a disco 200 yes.
New FIP pipes needed.
Think you'll struggle to find the defender parts cheaply though.

I read it as he wants to fit the 200 lump, but with the 2.5d timing case?

I think they are completely different.
I don't recall, for example, that the na chest bolts through the front of the sump like the 200 does?

I have no idea, just vageuly remember someone on the s2 forum doing something along the same lines, think he called it a frankenstien tdi!

I know the LR nad and the Sherpa nad although the same block had different timing chests and thus pump positions.

I think Mowersman series 2 club fitted a 200 timing case to a 19J so that he could use the bosch VE pump to run veg oil.
Quote from his profile.
"1965 SWB running a 19J/200 TDI hybrid, on 100% WVO all year round."
The job was on old series2 forum so probably hard to find.
Maybe also on seriously series forum as he was a member there too.
