difference between abs and non abs axle?

As i have a slight oil leak from my axle on my disco and need new discs and have new callipers, i was thinking of rebuilding the axle off the disco I'm breaking and then swapping with over. My question is the disco I'm breaking has no abs and my disco does. Is the anything different? i had a look on paddocks and theres swivel kits for abs and non abs, so next question is would it be okay to use a abs swivel kit on a non abs axle ? Thanks guys n gals

chrome balls/top swivel pin etc are different ,disco abs use the pre 300tdi defender ones

So if i was to rebuild the non abs axle, with a abs swivel kit would that work ?

so if i bought new swivel set like this one from paddocks, DA3166. Its the full replacement i believe? Or would it be best just to take my axle off and fix that one?

So i wanted to use a non abs axle on to a abs discovery, is it possible to easily make a non abs axle into a abs axle ?

yes if you swap balls ,cvs if no castleation etc

okay cool, disco will be getting a new front n rear axle then! may have to explain "cvs if no castleation etc" to me, im learning ha

abs uses a sensor through top pin and a castleation on cv ,not all non abs axles have castlelated cvs

Okay, if its a 300 series (m reg) should it?

they originally fitted non castleated stc3050 to non abs axles but later refits are normally stc3051 castleated as the one cv does both,so you cant tell till you look

Whats difference between abs rear axles and non abs rear axles.iv got leak on my abs rear axle.so this thread is interesting to me.
