Difference between a Freelander sold in the UK and the rest of the world?

(Other than the steering wheel, of course.)

I have a Freelander 2003 V6 bought in Mexico and I bought a hitch for it in the USA. The hitch is supposedly made for all freelander models between 2001 and 2005 but it doesn't fit.

The hitch is made for a gap of about 36 inches between the frame rails, but my freelander has a distance between rails of about 38 inches.

Is there a difference in the frame between Freelander models? how can I find this out?

Who made the tow bar?

towbar is incorrect, chassis rails are all the same even on commercials

the hitch is made by Curt MFG, part #13450.

it's not made by Landrover.

They claim that it is made to spec, that it fits perfectly.

I'm about to return it, but I want to know bit more about my truck. This issue got me curious.

How did the retailer explain the difference between the width of their unit, and the distance between the chassis rails?

Sorry for the "truck" thing. And I'm from Mexico, english is not my first language, sorry about using the wrong term

they explained that it was made to spec, that it was built according to the dimensions of LR. I will try to take a picture later.
