Yes it's a tdci diff it seems to turn smooth but the big bar is moving because the pin is missing

you can fit a new pin ,but i was trying to find why its missing , ie seized diff gear to shaft or tight would spin shaft and break the pin as would an elongated hole ,shaft shouldnt be loose but slide smooth fit

Yes the bar slides smooth I think it's fell out in transit with getting moved round a lot
Is it ok to fit a front diff to rear ? I've read their the same but always nice to check first as I've heard the rear diffs on tdci's are prone to going so I asked the guy for the front one better to be safe than sorry

yes they can go in either front or back ,if quite worn you can get a slight whine but yours looks fine
