Hi all
on sunday at Parkwood and at the end of the day i took my disco's diff lock out and tryed to pull away and there was nothing. so i put it back in and my disco drove again but only i 2WD.
there is no oil coming from anywear just a bad humming noise coming from the drivers side front wheel hub.

what could this be

could the CV joint brake to i loosedrive when the diff lock is out or is it the front diff??

stripped the hub and the CV joint has smashed ordering a new one from paddock today £25

When I changed discs I put a wheel on the ground, dropped the hub onto it, then atacked the disc bolts .. worked well. ;)

i got my new CV joint fitted today and it also gave me the chance to get my X drilled and groved disk's fitted.

ive had loads of problems with john paddock i orded £500 worth of stuff from them and also paid a bit more for quick next day postage. 4 days later averything comes bar the zorst i orded so i phoned nearly evey day for a week and a half and every time i was told it would be posted that night. i also found out that thay sent the order on a normal postage even though i paid for the quick postage.

The new CV joint did take 24hrs though but the one shot grease that thay put in the same box as the CV joint burst both bags of the grease so the postman me and the car are now coverd in the CV joint grease.

dont think im going to order from there again

why would large tyres cause that ?

Larger than designed for forces, maybe?

get a large wheel/tyre combo spinning freely, and it soon revs to twice what two would, and can destroy a lot of the transmission if the wheel then touched down firmly .. BTDTGTTS ... ;)

I'm in Spain as well (Lorca region) I fitted the ARB air lockers (F&R) and hardened driveshafts/CV's/flanges and run 265/75/16 BFG A/T and not a problem in sight.....................me and my big mouth, I am off on a big mountain trail Sunday week and being accompanied by my amigo in his Landcruiser 80.

You just know I am going to break something in front of him don't you!!!

regards

Dave
