Evening all
The pinion oil seal was replaced on our freelander 2 weeks ago and it has now started to whine when off the throttle under engine breaking. This seem to me to be a preload on the diff issue. I can also feel a small amount of play near the pinion bearing. I know there should be some backlash but would tightening this up slightly 1/8 or 1/4 of a turn until the backlash is almost completely gone be ok? I'm just scared of all the preloading bearings talk.
